Rice? Pasta? So 2014. This year’s grain game is all about quinoa.

To be honest, quinoa, a Peruvian export with more than 120 varieties, is not actually a grain at all: Its composition is closest to that of the beet. But given its reputation as a super food—quinoa has the highest potassium content of any grain, and is rich in protein, minerals, fiber and antioxidants—we’re willing to make an exception.
