#HealthyCampus Week

College: A time of profound change and a time when new habits are often formed. Two years ago, in an effort to ensure that healthy environments are available to students across the country, PHA developed the Healthier Campus Initiative. By offering more healthy food and physical activity options, campuses and universities can encourage healthier habits that will last a lifetime.

As part of this effort, colleges and universities across the nation are teaming up with PHA to make their campuses healthier. Each college or university partner has committed to meet 23 guidelines – developed by PHA in collaboration with some of the nation’s leading nutrition, physical activity and campus wellness experts – around nutrition, physical activity, and programming on campus.

This year, the Healthier Campus Initiative’s second annual #HealthyCampus Week, sponsored by Target, was celebrated September 19-23, 2016. This push is all about engaging our 44 campus partners – and their students – in various efforts to make healthier choices easier for their students, faculty and staff. From offering a wider range of nutritious options in dining halls to providing increased opportunities for physical activity on campus, we want to raise awareness of these efforts and highlight our joint effort.

Check out some of the amazing creative activities that were planned by our healthy campus partners:

Throughout the week, PHA lead a range of digital activations along with our campus partners, which included a Healthy Campus Week Sweepstakes with two winners, and two prizes – a $100 Target gift card and a Fitbit Activity Tracker! Students were encouraged to share images of themselves engaging in healthy activities on Instagram and Twitter and tag photos using the hashtag #HealthyCampus.

Follow along to find out more, then use the hashtag to tell us how your campus is making healthier options more available for students, faculty and staff!
