Healthy Coloring Books for Adults

Part of living a healthy lifestyle is minimizing stress. One of the latest trends that help do so are coloring books for grownups. Even better, some of these coloring books double as cookbooks. Here’s a look into this latest trend and where you can pick them up.
 
Why Coloring Books?
 
The first time I ever heard of an adult coloring book was from the Meal Makeover Moms, who just released The Smoothie Bowl Coloring Cookbook. So what inspired them to create a coloring cookbook?
 
“Adult coloring books were hot in 2015 and so was the smoothie bowl trend, so we combined the two for a first-of-its-kind coloring cookbook,” says Liz Weiss, M.S., RDN, of the Meal Makeover Moms. She adds, “Smoothie bowls are nutritious, and they’re also beautiful works of art, so it made sense to use them in the book. We actually have 10 smoothie bowl recipes in the book, and each comes with a corresponding mandala coloring page design.”
 
The goal for the Meal Makeover Moms is to get families cooking in the kitchen, coloring and relaxing together. Plus, in today’s fast-paced world, coloring books encourage adults (and kids) to slow down and relax. “There’s also something very soothing and meditative about coloring that appeals to people yearning to capture the carefree feeling they had when they were kids,” adds Janice Newell Bissex, M.S., RDN, the other part of the Meal Makeover Moms power duo.

Directions:

  1. Place the mango, kiwi, spinach, banana, juice, yogurt, chia seeds, and agave in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into individual bowls and garnish with your choice of optional topping
